A San Benito man, who police had been looking for in reference to a domestic assault, turned himself in on Thursday, October 29, eight days after he allegedly choked and punched his girlfriend in the face.
Arturo Garza, age 58, had an active warrant issued for his arrest on October 21 after his girlfriend had to call police to stop him from beating her, police said. According to the police report, the victim had asked Garza to pack his things and leave due to suspicion of him cheating. Garza became enraged and started to yell at his girlfriend, eventually pushing his forearm up against her throat for several second and kicking out a pantry door. The victim allegedly told Garza repeatedly to leave the house, but before finally leaving, the victim told police that Garza punched her in the face and threw the apartment key at her.
