Dorothy F. Scholes

Dorothy F. Scholes passed away on September 30, 2015, in Princeton, IL, age 82.
A resident of San Benito for 40 years, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Rhonald R. Scholes.
Born in Cave City, Kentucky in March, 1933, Dorothy moved to Illinois as a child; after completing school, she worked in Josten’s Jewelry factory. In 1954 she married Rhonnie Scholes.
After moving to San Benito in 1963, Dorothy joined Rhonnie in his carpentry and contracting business, R.R. Scholes Builders. They family operated the Playland Rollercade skating rink in San Benito for a number of years; Dorothy also worked as a waitress at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel Café, and helped with the family honey bee business.
Dorothy returned to Illinois in 2001 where she continued to enjoy gardening, genealogy, and numerous handcraft projects.
She is survived by her son, David (Virginia) Byrd, daughter Sandy (Gene) Ellison, and sons Gary Scholes and Robert Scholes, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
A private prayer service was held by the family. Cremation will be followed by interment in the Scholes family cemetery in Kasbeer, IL.
