Trial set for couple in hit and run death

Court dates have been set for the couple involved in the fatal hit-and-run of 23-year-old Richard Mata last August.  Luis Humberto Cardenas and Karina Zuniga Cardenas of Brownsville will be in court for announcements on April 9th and their Jury trial will be held April 20^th.

Humberto Cardenas will be facing charges of failure to report a felony (class A misdemeanor) and tampering with evidence (third degree felony).  Zuniga Cardenas, his wife, who was allegedly driving the vehicle the night of the incident, will be charged with tampering with evidence (third degree felony) and accident involving death (second degree felony).
