To reach this point, each competed in the Region 5 Division 1 Class 6A Meet. SBHS finished third as a team out of 14 schools that entered.

SOCCER
Both the boys’ and girls’ SBHS Varsity Soccer teams qualified for the postseason and are in the Class 6A Division 1 playoff brackets.
Both matches are on Friday against the Weslaco teams.
The Weslaco Panthers play at San Benito’s Bobby Morrow Stadium at 7 p.m. The Lady Greyhounds are playing at Weslaco’s Bobby Lackey Stadium at 7 p.m.
SOFTBALL
The San Benito Lady Greyhound Varsity Softball Team continued their dominance on the diamond from pre-district into District 32-6A play.
In their district opener last week at Brownsville Hanna, SBHS won 15-0. They matched that victory this week at home against the Los Fresnos Lady Falcons, also 15-0.
Both contests were run ruled.
SBHS leads the district standings ahead of the Harlingen Cardinals (0-1) and the Brownsville Veterans Memorial Lady Chargers (1-1).
They played a non-district game Thursday against the Weslaco Lady Panthers, who are 19-5-1.
Weslaco won the state title two years ago.
BASEBALL
The San Benito Greyhounds are scheduled to play their district opener at Brownsville Hanna on March 24.
Their last game was six days ago, so SBHS Head Coach Ramiro Partida, Jr. might plan an opponent before then.
If not, the ‘Hounds ended pre-district on a positive note by defeating the Edinburg North Cougars, 9-6.
It came at a good time as they ended a three-game losing streak that included losses to Harlingen South, Weslaco, and La Joya.
SBHS has a 7-8 record for the year.
