OLMITO, TX—Cameron Country Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) officials announced the arrest of several individuals allegedly tied to the attempted distribution of narcotics at the Cameron County Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center.
The arrests were made on February 17, 2025, according to the CCSO after an alleged smuggling attempt.
The suspects were identified as Ana Maria Recio, John Fontenot, Jesus Abelardo Vallejo, and Christopher John Olsen who were charged Criminal Conspiracy; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 1; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 2; Prohibited Substances and Items in Correctional or Civil Commitment Facility, according to the CCSO.
Olsen was charged with Criminal Conspiracy; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 1; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 2; Prohibited Substances and Items in Correctional or Civil Commitment.
On Friday, January 17, 2025, investigators from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Rucker-Carrizalez Detention Center located at 7100 Old Alice Road, Olmito, Texas in reference to narcotics allegedly introduced by a female citizen but seized by jail personnel, according to jail officials.
According to a CCSO report, Recio entered the facility around noon to drop off a pair of white shoes for inmate Jesus Abelardo Vallejo. Upon inspection, jail medical staff noticed a strong odor of spray paint on the shoes and allegedly discovered two baggies containing methamphetamine and MDMA/Ecstasy hidden in the soles.
According to the CCSO, further investigation revealed that the narcotics delivery was organized by a former inmate, John Fontenot, who allegedly arranged for Recio to transport the drugs. The investigation also uncovered the involvement of another inmate, Olsen, who is married to Recio, the woman who allegedly delivered the narcotics hidden in the shoes, according to the CCSO.
Sheriff’s office investigators are reported to have obtained a confession from all parties involved and on January 24, 2025, they were served with the following charges: Criminal Conspiracy; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 1; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 2; Prohibited Substances and Items in Correctional or Civil Commitment Facility.
Olsen was given the additional charges of Criminal Conspiracy; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 1; Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in PG 2; Prohibited Substances and Items in Correctional or Civil Commitment Facility.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of all.
