RIO HONDO, TX—The Bobcat Powerlifting Team competed in the 2nd Annual Bobcat Powerlifting Tri-Meet Invitational last Thursday. The Bobcats had a great showing as they swept the meet in the boys’ and girls’ divisions, taking home 1st place in the boys and girls divisions.
Scoring for the girls were: Yaritza Benitez, 2nd place; Aliyah Fuentes, 3rd place; Kayla De La Cruz, 1st place; Isabella Rocha, 2nd place; Lilly Salinas, 1st place; Olga Zuniga, 3rd place; Kaitlyn Kleypas, 4th place; Rebeka Zuniga, 1st place; Jasmin Castellanos, 4th place; Gloria Guerrero, 5th place; Elissa Perez, 2nd place; Alison Sanchez, 3rd place, and Stacey Davila, 1st place.
Qualifying for Regionals and hitting State Totals was Lilly Salinas.
Scoring for the boys were: Derek Vasquez, 1st place; Kameren Briones, 5th place; Mario Lopez, 1st place; Jared Limon, 3rd place; Thomas Cruz, 1st place; Alexander Trevino, 2nd place; Jose Lopez, 1st place; Francisco Losoya, 2nd place; Marcus Flores, 3rd place; Devin Raymond, 1st place; Gregory Soto, 2nd place; Alex Escamilla, 3rd place, and Juan Doblado, 4th place.
The Bobcat Powerlifting Team is competing this week at the Hidalgo and Port Isabel Invitational.
A week prior, the Bobcats competed in the 7th Annual Santa Rosa Warrior Powerlifting Invitational Powerlifting Meet. The Bobcats had a great showing as both teams placed in the Top 5 with the girls taking second place and the boys finishing in fifth place.
Scoring for the girls were: Starlynn Garza, 1st place; Jolene Salazar, 3rd place; Rhianna Villarreal, 3rd place; Lauren Rincones, 3rd place; Emily Martinez, 1st place; Jocelyn Ferrel, 5th place; Allison Zetina, 2nd place; Aleena Cavazos, 5th place; Nicole Herrera, 9th place; Hailey Castaneda, 3rd place.
Qualifying for Regionals and hitting state totals were Starlynn Garza, Jolene Salazar, and Emily Martinez.
Scoring for the boys were: Lionel Sanchez, 5th place, Isaac Ortega, 5th place, Aaron Ochoa, 3rd place, Noe Leos, 3rd place, Alfredo Garza, 5th place, David Castaneda, 3rd place, Miguel Lopez, 4th place, Juan Villegas, 3rd place, Adrian Betancourt, 4th place, Julio Montoya, 12th place, Dylan Hernandez, 8th place, and Rene Zamorano, 7th place. Nine Up award winner was Isaac Ortega.
