LOS FRESNOS, TX—On Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, Deputies were dispatched to the 34000 block of Ebony Rd. regarding an alleged fight in progress. Upon arriving, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies noticed two subjects on the ground engaged in a physical altercation.
According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), deputies separated the subjects and were detained during the investigation. Deputies made contact with the complainant who said that moments earlier, he witnessed an alleged intoxicated subject, identified as Daniel Garza, make an allegedly forced and unconsented entrance into his residence by climbing in through the window with a machete in hand and aggressively moving towards him.
The complainant defended himself and tried to extricate the machete from Garza as a struggle ensued. According to the CCSO, the complainant fought and restrained the suspect until the deputies’ arrival.
Sheriff’s deputies then spoke with Garza, but he was allegedly uncooperative and refused to say anything, read the CCSO report. He was placed under arrest and charged with T.P.C.: 30.02, Burglary of Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony, a 1st Degree Felony.
RECKLESS DRIVING AND POSSESSION
On a separate, unrelated investigation also in the Los Fresnos area, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, a Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputy, while patrolling the area of FM 803 and Hwy 100, noticed a black passenger vehicle displaying Texas plates allegedly failing to signal a change of lane.
According to the CCSO report, the sheriff’s deputy then noticed the driver of the vehicle allegedly rapidly accelerate, exceeding speeds of over 100 miles an hour, and passing vehicles on the center lane with willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.
The deputy caught up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Jesus Antonio Silva, 17 years of age. While making contact with the driver, the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle, reads a CCSO report. Silva was placed under arrest for Reckless Driving: 545.401.
He was also charged with Possession of Marijuana: 481.121 after a blue grinder with marijuana was allegedly located inside the vehicle. Silva was transported to the Cameron County Carrizales Rucker Detention Center in Olmito where he was booked for said charges. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court of law.
