Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies recently arrested two wanted men who were allegedly involved in two separate crimes.
According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), on Thursday, Jun. 27, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Cameron County Probation Office in San Benito regarding a wanted subject.
Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies made contact with a probation officer who reported 23-year-old Mario Antonio Avila had an outstanding warrant out of Brazoria County for Indecency with a Child. Sheriff’s deputies confirmed the warrant with Brazoria County and took Avila into custody.
Deputies arrested and transported Avila to the Cameron County, Carrizales Rucker Detention Center in Olmito pending extradition to Brazoria County.
In a separate arrest, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, deputies were dispatched to 121 North Arroyo Blvd., Rio Hondo, (the Rio Hondo Police Department) in reference to a wanted subject.
According to the CCSO, Cameron County Dispatch advised deputies to make contact with a Rio Hondo PD Officer who had detained a male with an active warrant out of the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Police Department. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the RHPD officer who provided them the property belonging to detainee Ruben Cordando Rendon.
Cameron County Dispatch confirmed the warrant for Ruben Cordando Rendon and deputies placed him under arrest for the active warrant for Theft of Property >=$750 <$2,500 (Warrant# 23-03192DFW).
Cordando Rendon was transported to the Cameron County Carrizales Rucker Detention Center in Olmito for booking without incident.
All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
