Man arrested for failure to register

LOS FRESNOS, TX—An alleged failure-to-register as a sex offender case has led to the arrest of an area man
On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Investigators initiated an investigation in reference to an alleged Sexual Assault case in which the suspect was identified as Renato Rodriguez.

According to the CCSO it was learned through the course of the investigation that Rodriguez is a registered sex offender, whose duty is to register on an annual basis and report any change of address to his local law enforcement agency as per Code of Criminal Procedure Art. 62.055, Change of Address; Lack of Address.

As per the CCSO, investigators further learned that Rodriguez had allegedly not registered since the year 2021 and had further failed to notify the CCSO Registry Office of his change of address within the time period described by Chapter 62 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Cameron County Investigators secured a warrant for Rodriguez for the offense of Failure to Comply Sex Offense — Duty to Register Life/Annual, a 3rd Degree Felony.

Cameron County Investigators took Rodriguez into custody without incident. An investigation is ongoing, according to the CCSO.
