SWAT raids residence

A San Benito duo is facing serious drug-related charges after multiple law enforcement agencies raided a local residence prior to the New Year.

According to a San Benito Police Department (SBPD) report, on Friday, December 29, 2023, the SBPD Special Investigations Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, members of the San Benito SWAT Team and Officers from the Harlingen Police Department’s Organized Crimes Unit executed a narcotics search warrant at 455 E. Powers Street in San Benito.

The search and seizure warrant was granted utilizing information obtained from surveillance and arrests associated to the residence.

While executing the warrant, investigators allegedly found a total of 0.4 grams of crack cocaine, 5.39 pounds of Marijuana, 29 grams of THC products, 19 grams of alprazolam and approximately 37 grams of dangerous drugs in pill form.

According to the SBPD report, two individuals were located and arrested due to their alleged connection in the manufacturing and delivering of narcotics from the residence to include marijuana, crack cocaine, THC products and other illicit drugs.

The subjects were identified as a Carlos Joel Lopez and Jonathan Tijerina. After their arrest, they were transported to the SBPD and processed accordingly, read a SBPD press release.

Lopez was charged with the Manufacture/Delivery of Substance PG2 >=4G<400G, a First Degree Felony; Delivery of Marijuana >5LBS<=50LBS, a Second Degree Felony; Manufacture/Delivery of Substance PG1 <1G, a State Jail Felony; Manufacture/Delivery of Substance PG3/4 <28G, a State Jail Felony; Delivery or Offer of Delivery of a Dangerous Drug, a State Jail Felony.

Tijerina was charged with the Manufacture/Delivery of Substance PG2 >=4G<400G, a First Degree Felony; Delivery of Marijuana >5LBS<=50LBS, a Second Degree Felony; Manufacture/Delivery of Substance PG1 <1G, a State Jail Felony; Manufacture/Delivery of Substance PG3/4 <28G, a State Jail Felony; Delivery or Offer of Delivery of a Dangerous Drug, a State Jail Felony.

    Findley the bad folks are dealt a big blow. SBP. are doing a good job at keeping San Benito a safe place.
