Garcia accused of firing weapon

A San Benito man is facing a felony charge after allegedly discharging a firearm into a vehicle.

According to a Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) report, on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence at the 28000 block of FM 1561, just outside San Benito.

The CCSO was called regarding a subject discharging a firearm into a vehicle.

According to the report, upon arrival, Sheriff Deputies made contact with a 27-year-old male, reportedly the alleged victim. According to the CCSO, the alleged victim reported that his father, identified as 52-year-old Raul Garcia, was allegedly intoxicated and became upset with a vehicle parked in front of a neighbor’s residence.

The alleged victim reported that Garcia went into his residence where he allegedly obtained a firearm. The victim reported that Garcia walked to the roadway and thereafter walked back into the property where he discharged the firearm at the victim’s vehicle.
