Guerra Velez new Chamber head

The San Benito Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has appointed Michelle Guerra Velez as the Chamber’s new Executive Director. Guerra Velez’s tenure commenced on December 11 of this year.

A Brownsville resident born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Guerra Velez is a first-generation university graduate whose journey has taken her across continents, bridging cultures and industries. According to a biography provided to the NEWS by Guerra Velez, her upbringing instilled “a deep appreciation for diversity and a drive to break barriers.”

Guerra Velez earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration Degree with a concentration in International Business from The University of Texas — Rio Grande Valley. This laid the foundation for her future endeavors on the global stage, she states.

Guerra Velez described her career as “a dynamic tapestry, weaving through various industries and geographies.” From her native country of Mexico to the corporate landscapes of Singapore, the United States, and China, she has amassed a wealth of experience that uniquely positions her as a global professional, she states in her bio.

Having worked in finance, technology, and offshore marine, Guerra Velez’s versatility is matched only by her ability to build meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds, according to her bio.
Her multicultural exposure has not only shaped her professional acumen, but has also fostered a deep understanding of the nuances that drive international business.
