LOS FRESNOS, TX—A Los Fresnos area man has been arrested on accusations of injuring three-week-old infants, according to a Cameron County Sherriff’s Office (CCSO) report.

According to the report, CCSO Deputies made the arrest on August 12, 2023, when investigators concluded that their inquiry generated enough evidence to arrest Gerardo Alcocer. Alcocer, according to the report, had an outstanding warrant out of Cameron County.

On July 28, 2023, investigators allege, the CCSO was contacted by the Driscoll’s Children Hospital in Brownsville, in reference to a three-week-old infant who was admitted with signs of physical abuse and non-accidental internal injuries.

With the assistance of the Texas Rangers, CCSO Investigators launched an extensive investigation and discovered that another thee-week-old infant was admitted to the Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Brownsville.

Furthermore, the report alleges, the second infant was the fraternal twin of the first infant. As part of the investigation, Child Protective Services (CPS) was notified of the situation.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that both siblings displayed the same injuries and remained under observation at the Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
