SBCISD to cover AC repair costs

With the summer heat seemingly going into hyperdrive these last few weeks, air condition units across the City of San Benito have been taking a serious beating. As a result of the immense heat, the San Benito Food Pantry – which has also been working in hyperdrive during the summer the months – saw their A/C unit give out two weeks ago during one of their busiest days. While Food Pantry President Forest Walker and her crew were able to adjust to the misfortune by using a few oscillating fans, a call for help from the community they serve was answered in a big way.

After receiving a quote of nearly $10,000 to fix the seven-ton commercial air condition unit, Walker was worried the repairs were unattainable. When SBCISD officials heard of the predicament, they decided to fix the problem, free of charge.

“Our pantry has survived for 44 years solely on donations from the community,” said Walker. “The thought of having to shell out $10,000 was just insurmountable. The school district heard about our issue and sent over a crew to inspect the unit, and they informed us the board agreed to incur all costs associated with the repairs… We’re beyond grateful for the gesture.”

According to Walker, the unit requires special equipment that had to be ordered from a manufacturer, which will result in a five week wait. Still, the expensive fix is something that would not be possible without the SBCISD board.

If they are standing next to the a/c unit that is bad, it cannot be more than a five ton three phase unit. 10 G Sounds like bull to me.
