Mendieta, Gracia arrested in separate incidents

Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated two arrests in the Los Fresnos area this past week in separate, and unrelated incidents.

WARRANT EXECUTION
On March 29, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies executed an arrest warrant on Rodolfo Mendieta Jr. in the Los Fresnos area.

According to a Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) report, on March 26, 2023, CCSO Deputies responded to the Los Fresnos Police Department in reference to an alleged assault.

Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim who identified the suspect as Mendieta. In the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that Mendieta allegedly pushed the victim, causing her to fall next to her vehicle. In the course of the alleged assault, the victim reportedly hit her head against the tire of the vehicle, causing her pain to the left side of her ribcage and a laceration to the lip. In addition, the victim stated that when she tried to stand, Mendieta reportedly pushed her inside the vehicle, forcing her to strike the center console.

On March 27, 2023, CCSO Investigators conducted a “follow-up” with the victim who filed charges against Mendieta. Furthermore, an Emergency Protective Order was filed against Mendieta and the victim said that she feared that Mendieta would assault her again.

After further investigation, CCSO Investigators were able to secure an arrest warrant for Mendieta. Mendieta was taken into custody on March 29, 2023 and charged with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

Mendieta was transported and booked into the Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito.

FEMALE ARRESTED
On March 25, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Laureles area outside the Los Fresnos city limits in reference to an alleged Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim and took his statement. As per the victim, his spouse, Valeria Gracia, allegedly crashed her vehicle into his truck. In addition, Gracia reportedly burned the victim’s clothing on their front yard, and to avoid any further confrontation, he left to his sister’s house.
