Hog Waddle 2023, which featured a headlining performance by Tejano sensation Grupo Siggno, is being hailed a success based upon figures collected by the City.
An estimated 6,000 visitors converged upon the San Benito Fairgrounds on March 25, 2023, making the concert one of the most well-attended entertainment events in the City’s history.
Tickets sales at the San Benito Public Library ahead of the event were robust and continued with large draws at the gate on the day of the show.
In addition to Siggno, award-winning vocalist Jay Perez performed, as well as J.R. Cole from Corpus Christi and Rustic Rose, a band out of Mercedes.
Hog Waddle 2023 is the latest in a string of successful entertainment events presented by the City. Last fall, Grammy-award winning Tejano band La Mafia performed at South Texas Music Festival, drawing thousands to Heavin Memorial Park.

But how much money did the city lose on this event? As they have lost thousands of dollars on the hog Waddle year after year. The city commission and city manager should all be held accountable for the mismanagement of city funds. But they still have these events so they can be at the event and think they did something positive. But not when your losing money.
