According to a statement issued by the City of San Benito, on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., San Benito Police Officers responded to the 1100 Block of W. Business 77 in reference to a three-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, the statement went on to read, officers discovered that the driver of a red Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly rear-ended a Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of Bonner Street and Business 77.
The impact of the crash pushed the Jeep forward where it collided into a Chevy Traverse.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer was unresponsive when officers arrived, the city’s statement read, and he had to be extricated from the vehicle by the San Benito Fire Department.
He was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The other parties involved were evaluated by emergency personnel for non-life threatening injuries.
