Last Saturday, April 9, the San Benito Elks Lodge held an Easter celebration as a way to kickoff their new fiscal year beginning in April.

As a “New Year’s” resolution, the Elks Lodge is aiming to hold continuous community functions as part of its post-pandemic strategy.

Last Saturday’s event saw piñatas, two bouncy houses, an Easter egg hunt, two men in full-size bunny costumes, games and activities, prizes, and all-you-can-eat hot dogs. Approximately 35 children attended invited from churches and schools. Each child was sent home with an Easter basket containing candies, chocolates, and toys.

Board Director’s Chairman JJ Platas, who was also dressed as an Easter Bunny, said the organization wishes to hold more events for the community’s children.

“This is for a lot of the children that are handicapped or are otherwise not included often,” Platas said.
According to past Elks Lodge President Efrain Guerrero, the three focuses of the Elks Lodge organization are assisting special needs children, student attempting to attend college, and veterans.
