On the heels of his 600 career win, San Benito Head Varsity Softball Coach Elias Martinez was nominated to coach the 1st Annual Texas Select All-Star Showcase Softball Game set for June 4, at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
The game will pit uncommitted junior and senior high school softball players in a nine inning ball game and pregame workout for colleges recruiting coaches in an East versus West match-up.
The Texas Select All-Star Softball Showcase for uncommitted high school junior and seniors is set for 7 p.m. “We are looking for the best uncommitted players that need help getting exposure before their time runs out. This event is for uncommitted players only,” read a press release provided to the NEWS.
As mentioned, the event also includes a pregame workout Saturday morning in front of University and JUCO coaches. This is an all-day exposure event so that players can network and talk to college coaches.
There are no tryouts for this event. All players are selected by the details on the nomination form and written recommendation.
“Coach Elias Martinez – Head Softball Coach for San Benito HS – was nominated to Coach in this year’s All Star Game in SATX. He was selected due to the winning reputation and overall success of San Benito softball. We are honored to have him,” wrote Coach Michael Perez of Texas Select in an email to the NEWS.
