Gilberto Anes JrCORPUS CHRISTI – Gilberto Anes, Jr., 76, passed away on February 20, 2011 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Gilberto was born in San Benito, Texas on May 5, 1934 to Gilberto Anes, Sr., and Isabel Anes. Gilberto Jr, proudly served in the United States Navy for 21 years. He retired in 1973 as Chief Petty Officer-Yeoman. He served his country in fighting in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and he continued his Civil Service by working at Corpus Christi Army Depot and retiring from Defense Logistic Agency in 1996. He continued to show his American pride by proudly hanging the American Flag on every American Holiday.

Mr. Anes was a life-long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 8932), and life-time member of the American Legion (Post 364). He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and great friend to many.

Mr. Anes was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Amelia Segura and Sofia Castillo, and two grandsons, Guadalupe Ramos and Rodolfo Juarez, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Anes of 38 years. He was a proud parent and is survived by eight children, Maria Isabel (Rudy) Perez, Gilberto (Josie) Anes, III, Rolando Xavier Anes, Marco (Irene) Anes, Rodolfo (Margie) Juarez, Hilda (Joe) Ramos, Rosa (Patrick) Klis, and Noe (Lynne) Juarez, 21 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, Sisters, Elida (Cresecencio) Salazar, Enedelia (Robert) Montalvo, Emma Anes, Rose (Ralph) De La Garza.

Visitation will be held at Guardian funeral home on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and a Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening at Holy Family catholic church(2509 Nogales/MacArthur).

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Holy Family catholic church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park with Military Honors.
