San Benito Mayor Joe H. Hernandez is seen at his Robertson Street barber shop Tuesday. Hernandez, who is also seen (below) cutting Guadalupe Ramirez’ hair, is celebrating his 50th year in business.

San Benito Mayor Joe Hernandez arrives at his barbershop on Robertson Street at approximately 9:30 a.m. with clients already waiting outside for a haircut. After all, for the man who considers his work an art form, Hernandez is a master of his craft after 50 years in the business.

Hernandez acquired his license to cut hair in December 1963, when he was just 19-years-old, but his appreciation for a good haircut began when he was much younger.

Perhaps people are just jealous of him….of his good or bad decisions…mainly for his success ..lol…lets admit hen has been a popular person in S B.. If you want to be SOMEBODY IN THIS WORLD..u have to do whatever it takes to make your desires a reality!!!! ..

  2. I guess if Joe runs for mayor again I’ll vote for him. He made mistakes but I believe he’s learned his lessons and if he’s still in office and the the people that tried to get him out are not it must mean he must be in the right place.I see streets being fixed and business coming into town. Its’ almost like gambling when you vote if you vote for the wrong person your done. As history shown we vote for the people we think can do the job and end up upset or disappointed at the results of their actions. I am Glad we also have citizens who stand up and speak up when city leaders are doing wrong or not making the right decisions thus keeping check and balances.
