A San Benito woman accused of allegedly sending sexually explicit photos of an infant girl to a sex offender in Corpus Christi has pleaded not guilty.
According to Melissa Zamora, Public Information Officer for the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office, 22-year-old Desiree Lee Padilla of San Benito signed a waiver of arraignment, indicating a not guilty plea.
Padilla was arrested at her home in San Benito on February 8 by the US Marshal Gulf Coast Violent Task Force, with assistance from the Harlingen Police Department, following accusations that she took sexually provocative photographs of an infant and sent them to a Corpus Christi man via cell phone.
“Back in January (19), the Harlingen Police Department received notification from the US Marshal’s office,” Sergeant Dave Osborne, HPD Public Information Officer, said in a previous interview. “They had been investigating a suspect; when he was arrested they noticed child pornography on his phone. They then realized that the photos were taken by a suspect in Harlingen.”
