San Benito City Commissioners approved a resolution the San Benito Housing Authority has proposed to tackle extreme poverty.
The resolution, 2013-8, was approved during Tuesday night’s regular commission meeting and aims to give aid to citizens with “extremely” low incomes, according to San Benito Housing Authority Executive Director Arnold Padilla.
“The Housing Authority created a plan that considers problems that the State of Texas, the City of San Benito, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley identify as impediments to extremely low-income and low-income families reaching affordable housing,” Padilla told commissioners Tuesday night. He added that the plan was suggested by the Texas Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help alleviate said impediments.
