LOS FRESNOS, TX—The Office of Cameron County District Clerk Laura Perez-Reyes, in partnership with the City of Los Fresnos, is hosting a Passport Fair on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall, 520 E. Ocean Blvd., Los Fresnos, TX.
The fair is open to the public. To schedule an appointment, call (956) 544-0886 or email passport@co.cameron.tx.us. Walk-ins are also welcome.
To ensure quick service, Perez-Reyes and her staff recommend that individuals applying for a passport complete sections 1-21 of the DS-11 application and gather all required documents before their appointment.
Passport applications are available at the Cameron County Courthouse, 974 E. Harrison St., Brownsville; at any U.S. Post Office; or online at www.travel.state.gov.
To apply for a passport, applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a long-form certified U.S. birth certificate, a prior U.S. passport (even if expired, as long as it is undamaged), a consular report of birth abroad, or a certificate of naturalization or citizenship.
A photo ID is required, such as a valid driver’s license (plus a second ID if issued in a different state), an undamaged U.S. Passport issued within the last 15 years, a Certificate of Naturalization, or a valid government or military ID.
Thirdly, applicants must submit a color photograph with a white background, measuring two inches by two inches, printed on thin, photo-quality paper. Pictures can be taken on-site for a fee.
Children under 16 must present their birth certificate, and both parents must be present with valid photo IDs. Alternatively, one parent can submit a signed, notarized DS-3053 or a signed DS-5525, depending on the situation.
Applicants aged 16 to 17 must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, and one parent must be present with a photo ID unless the applicant has an acceptable photo ID and submits parental consent.
Two separate payments are required, and temporary checks will not be accepted. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the US Department of State.
Book fees are $130 for applicants 16 and older and $100 for those under 16.
Card fees are $30 for applicants age 16 and older, or $15 for those under 16.
Book and card combination fees are $160 for applicants 16 and older, or $115 for applicants under 16.
A second payment to the District Clerk must be made using one of the following methods: cash, check, money order, or credit card. Each application costs $35, plus $10 per photo.
Optional expedited services include: $60 to the US Department of State; $22.05 in postage to the US Department of State; and $33.25 in postage to the District Clerk.
