An area man is being accused of robbing multiple stores on the same evening.

According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), on Jan. 21, 2025, at about 9:26 p.m., Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Korner Market on McCullough Rd., in San Benito, regarding an alleged robbery that had occurred moments earlier.

According to a CCSO report, upon arriving at the scene, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators learned that earlier that night, at about 9 p.m., an unknown male subject approached the clerk and demanded all the money from the register. He then allegedly threatened to shoot the clerk if his demands were not met.

According to the CCSO, the unknown male subject never displayed a handgun, but did allegedly place the victim in fear of death due to his threats. The suspect eventually left the area with $400, traveling in a white Chevy Tahoe with a large sticker on its back windshield reading, “Reyes.”

Later that early morning, at about 1:50 a.m., Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators responded to a second alleged robbery, this time at the Stripes convenience store on Hwy 281 and F.M. 1577 just outside San Benito. Upon making contact with the victim, it was confirmed that it had been the same suspect from the robbery at the Korner Market earlier that night.

Through the investigation, the suspect’s vehicle was located unoccupied and parked on a street near Hwy 281. The suspect was then identified as 31-year-old Julian Ulises Reyes Pena.

On January 22, 2025, after confirming the suspect’s identity, Cameron County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Reyes Pena for Two Counts of Robbery, a 2nd Degree Felony.

Later that same day, he was located by Cameron County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies sitting in a car outside another local Stripes store, authorities say. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Cameron County Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito for incarceration and arraignment on said charges.
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
