Veteran real estate broker Adrian A. Arriaga has announced that four national chains are planning to open in San Benito in the near future.

Speaking at a recent event hosted by the Rio Grande Valley Partnership Commercialization and Investment Tour, co-hosted with the San Benito Economic Development Corporation, Arriaga revealed that six acres of land, out of a total of 12 acres, are under contract for four national companies.

EDC Executive Director Ramiro Aleman told the NEWS this week that developers have yet to inform him who these national chains are, leaving the answer pending.

However, Arriaga mentioned that these companies are not currently present in Cameron County, which will put San Benito back on the map.

“You are going to find out that it’s going to put you on the map again because (they are) companies that we simply don’t have on this side of Cameron County,” Arriaga said.

Arriaga also mentioned that his company, The Arriaga Group, has identified potential national companies to fill vacant spaces near Walmart and HEB in San Benito, as the current tenant, Lacks Furniture Store, is in the process of vacating. He referred to these spaces as Lots ABC and D in a PowerPoint presentation.

“So, we are trying to find and have identified a couple of national companies, medium size boxes to go there, to be determined before the end of the year,” Arriaga said.
