Search continues for new superintendent

The search for San Benito CISD’s new superintendent is at a standstill, according to some district board members.

Trustee Ariel Cruz said the board has already hosted a presentation from TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) but has yet to decide on the search firm to hire.

Trustee Orlando Lopez said the matter has not been posted on their agenda. “Without stable leadership, it’s kind of rough,” Lopez said. “Right now the board is holding off on TASB and prolonging the superintendent search.

I think we need stable leadership, and we need to look for a superintendent because right now, superintendents are signing contracts, and if we prolong any longer, they are going to go off and sign other contracts and it will be more difficult to get somebody out here.”

On March 8, board members voted 4-3 to hire Theresa Servellon as Interim Superintendent; she will fulfill the role until the board hires someone to fill the position permanently.
