Resaca City Hero: Local artist gaining national attention, hopes to put hometown on the map

If you’ve been listening to the radio lately, chances are you’ve heard the song “Resaca City Gold” at least a few times over the last few weeks. The song, which proudly boasts about every unique and special aspect of San Benito, has billyyoungseemingly gained acclaim from music listeners all across the valley. Routinely racking up over 90% approval rating on “The Valley’s Most Wanted” local artist showdown, Resaca City Gold has maintained its spot as the featured local anthem for over two full weeks. . For many, hearing their hometown portrayed in a rare positive manner is enough to make them lifelong fans. But, for those who know the man behind the song, San Benito native William “Billy Young” Hurtado, they know this is just the beginning for a musician attempting to follow in the footsteps of the late Freddy Fender.
