Heavy Hitters: Girls volleyball team looks to continue decade of success

As sports fans in San Benito are eagerly awaiting the start of football season, there’s another group of athletes putting in countless hours of work that are seemingly flying under the radar. The Lady ’Hounds volleyball team has been battling through their own set of two-a-days during these last couple of weeks and already have a victory over a visiting team under their belt. Led by 14th year head coach Ruby Medina, these Lady ’Hounds are entering the season looking for their 11th playoff berth in the last 12 years.
To coach Medina’s delight, this year’s squad is bringing back all but two starters from last year. The only problem is those two starters held arguably the most vital position on the team.20160810_110345 20160810_105318

The first exhibition game for the Lady ’Hounds was this past Monday where they defeated San Diego Academy and their season will officially kick off on Tuesday when San Benito will host Edinburg Vela inside the Greyhound gym at 6:30.
