Petra Sandoval Munguia

SAN BENITO—Petra Sandoval Munguia, 79, passed away at home in her sleep in El Ranchito, TX on May 7, 2016. She was born in Rancho La Rosita on July 30, 1936. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Liturgical Reader, Sacristan and active member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in El Ranchito, Texas. She was employed by Esparza & Zepeda Produce Packer and always drove to work with her special group of girl friends. She was very active with her grandchildrens’ extra curricular activities from ballet to marching band, always making sure they were on time. She helped many that were recovering from surgeries or on their final moments leading them into the light so they could be reunited with the Lord.
Gardening, collecting rocks and bells from her trips around the world were some of her biggest hobbies. Her strong and fiesty character was a reflection of the strength with which she loved others. She was Petra until the end.
She is preceded in death by her two sons Vicente and Alfonso Munguia, her parents Juan and Magdalena Sandoval. Her siblings Amador and Nelda Sandoval.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years Alfonso Munguia, daughter Odelia Longoria, son-in-law Romeo Longoria, granddaughter Cassandra Longoria, grandson Romeo David Longoria and great-grandson Josiah Richard Garcia; and her siblings Hector Sandoval, Juan Jose Sandoval, Adalberto Sandoval and America Duran.
Special thanks to her provider, Hermelinda Pena, for the wonderful care and love she showed our mom for the past 2 1/2 years, and to Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful end of life care.
Visitation will be at the Munguia residence on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Rosary will be held at St. Ignatius in El Ranchito, TX at 7 p.m.
Memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in El Ranchito, TX followed by burial at Naranjo Cemetery.
