An investigation is underway at Miller Jordan Middle School after several students were allegedly caught with narcotics Wednesday afternoon.

After an outcry from several concerned parents Thursday, the District issued the following statement regarding the matter:

“School and law enforcement officials are investigating an incident that took place at Miller Jordan Middle School on Wednesday, April 6, involving several students. Concerned students and staff members came forward to report questionable activity regarding students that brought prohibitive items to school.  Their quick action prompted school leaders and school law enforcement officials to take immediate action.  Parents of the students directly associated with the incident were notified accordingly.”

The new super is very similar to President Obama when he was running for election and reelection: all talk and makeup. Meanwhile, promised progress is nowhere to be found. PRC is a joke. Has been for several years. Change in students is yet to be seen. Now, district policy starting from the Super down is making a joke out of all discipline district wide. It’ll get worse before it gets better is a common phrase used when referenced to change. However, there was no need, in this situation, for it to be changed or worsened. Yet, it has.

    Bobby, your comment is absurd.
Most citizens of San Benito may not realize it, but the school district central office this year has (officially or unofficially) adopted a progressive discipline program in order to keep the numbers of students remanded to DAEP or PRC low. It’s all about appearances with this new superintendent, who continues to take pictures with politicians while the the schools’ discipline has completely fallen apart.
In addition to Miller Jordan, the two other middle schools have experienced an inordinate amount of drug use by their students. The most ever seen. This is due in part to the administrations’ failure to hold the the students and parents accountable.
Ask any of the great teachers in SBCISD and they will tell you the new discipline procedures are horrendous and the new RTI program is a disaster because of ill-trained personnel. By the way, the RTI personnel are new positions at each school and most have not been adequately trained and each school does different things.
Ask any of the great teachers in SBCISD and they will tell you that students should not be allowed to bring cell phones to school as the bullying and taunting through social media has created a hostile environment for many students, who are there to learn.
Finally, the school board members have their heads buried somewhere. To better educate our children, they should ban cell phones of all students from elementary and middle schools, adopt a zero tolerance policy on drugs, put competent administrators in the right positions, and not cater to whiny parents when their child gets caught doing wrong. Cell phones are a hindrance to quality education. At some schools, students caught with drugs or under the influence are only given in-school suspension or worse. Elementary school teachers and administrators do not belong at middle school.
C’mon San Benito. We’re better than this.

SBN should investigate into this type of wrong activity at SBCISD schools and see what exactly the district does to correct wrongdoings and provide safety to the students who aren’t in the wrong.

My son is going to Miller Jordan this coming school year. After this I might just consider homeschool instead, there wont be no drugs or problems like that at home and he will have much more knowledge to look forward to.

A little bit of weed never hurt anyone. Unless they brought that heavy crap, but still school is no place for drugs.
