Petra “Petrita” M. De La Rosa

HARLINGEN, TX—Petra “Petrita” M. De La Rosa, our beautiful blue-eyed inspiration, entered the gates of Heaven on January 5, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 12, 1939 to Serefino Martinez and Guadalupe Sanchez.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Luis De La Rosa; daughters, Yvonne (Bonnie) Rodriguez, Elizabeth (Betsy) Avila (Hector), and Cindy De La Rosa (Joe Cortez); grandchildren Lizette Sandoval (Juan), Dr. Joshua Rodriguez (Fiancée Dr. Cory Garza), and great-grandchildren, Lexi, Luke, and Leah Sandoval; her beloved sister, Dora S. Vela; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Seferino Martinez and Guadalupe Sanchez; her brothers, Raul S. Torrez and Simon Garcia.
Visitation was held at Trinity Funeral Home at 1002 E. Harrison Ave. in Harlingen on Friday, January 8 from 1:00-9:00 p.m. and rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be on Saturday, January 9 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., with interment following at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Joshua Rodriguez, Juan Sandoval, Jr.; Hector Avila, J.D. Rodriguez, Michael Ramos, and Roel Torrez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cassandra Leanne Avila, Lexi, Luke, Leah Sandoval and Joe Cortez.
