KINGSVILLE — “There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”
After their 41-15 loss to Schertz Clemens on Friday night, those words could not ring more true concerning the San Benito Greyhounds’ season. Against a Clemens team that had more size and speed, the ’Hounds’ tremendous year came to a close after their Class 6A Region-IV Division-II game at Javelina Stadium.
The Buffaloes (11-2) advance to take Cibolo Steele (13-0) in the regional finals next week. For San Benito, an awesome campaign, which included the Battle of the Arroyo, District 32-6A, bi-district and area championships, is over at 10-3.
“We’re proud of the kids and we told em to never be satisfied with what they accomplish, but always be proud of the journey,” ’Hound’s head coach Dan Gomez said. “It started when we got here and the kids believing in the system and doing what we asked them to do.”
