Luis Humberto Cardenas, the Brownsville man who was on trial for his involvement in last year’s fatal hit-and-fun of San Benito native Richard Mata, had his final sentencing on Friday and the result was a victory in the eyes of Mata’s family.
Cardenas received a six year sentence for tampering with evidence with the intent to fabricate. He was found not guilty on his second charge of failure to report a Felony resulting in death.
