NEWS STAFF REPORT Battle of Sam Houston

In the annual “Battle of Sam Houston,” a San Benito tradition to close the middle school football season, Miller Jordan left no doubt.
The Cougars’ 8th grade Black team scored early and often to blank Berta Cabaza’s purple team, 38-0 on Saturday morning at Bobby Morrow Stadium.
Miller came out determined and went on a scoring spree to close out the season with a victory.
Running back Antonio Torres got the scoring started with a nifty touchdown run late in the first quarter. Quarterback John Gonzales also notched a running TD for the Cougars as Miller built an early 12-0 lead. Later, Manny Rodriguez blasted in to put Miller Jordan up 18-0, a lead the black & gold took into halftime.
After the break, it was all Cougars.
