Twenty-year-old Jesus Muniz of San Benito spends about as much time as he can volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in San Benito. Everything from helping kids with their homework, to maintenance around the building, Muniz has been one of the more reliable volunteers at the club. Now, he’ll be rewarded for all his efforts, along with the Club he adamantly enjoys helping.
Molina Healthcare will be honoring three community heroes on Tuesday night at its annual Community Champions Awards in Brownsville. Each Champion will receive a $1,000 grant to donate to a non-profit of their choice to give back to the community. Muniz will be the first San Benito recipient of the award since it started.
“He’s here every day doing whatever we ask of him,” said Boys and Girls Club Director Veronica Rogers. “I actually nominated him and I’m glad to see him win it. He deserved it.”
