After last week’s exhilarating win at Harlingen, some wondered what the San Benito Greyhounds had left in the tank.

How about Super Unleaded?
Quarterback J.R.Gaitan rushed for over 250 yards, the Greyhound defense forced four turnovers (including two INTs from Juan “Missle” Gonzalez) as War Dog got a pivotal 32-6A win, a 40-21 decision over Brownsville Veterans Memorial on Friday night at Bobby Morrow Stadium.
The win gives San Benito (5-2 overall, 3-1 District 32-6A) a piece of the league lead along with Harlingen, Los Fresnos and Brownsville Veterans. The Cardinals did the ’Hounds a huge favor with their 25-18 win over the Falcons on Friday.
“We were looking for consistency and putting all phases together,” San Benito coach Dan Gomez said. “The sign of a great team is doing something good after you’ve already done something good.”
