It’s almost that time of the year again. With October 23 fast approaching, the Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center is getting ready to hold their annual celebration of their roots as the “birthplace of Conjunto music.” The festival, which is held each October and runs for three days, showcases the unique style of music that embraces influences from both Texas and Mexico.
Over 5,000 people are expected to turn out this year for the 24th annual Narciso Martinez Conjunto Festival, which will feature 16 bands, including five headliners who have established themselves as heavyweights in the world of Conjunto music.
Boni Mauricio y Maximos might be the biggest name scheduled to perform at the event and will be performing during peak hours for the event. “Saturday’s are usually are biggest days… Boni Mauricio will be performing that day along with several other Valley bands,” said Soledad Nunez, who has been handling the majority of the bookings for the event. “It’s a great event for the community to come out and see that San Benito does have a lot to offer… everybody loves to dance and that’s what this event is all about.”
