SBCISD expects to hire new Superintendent by January

If the San Benito CISD hopes to find a solution to the budget crisis anytime soon, they are going to have to find a Superintendent that can help guide them in the right direction first. And it’s looking like that might not happen until January 2016, once half the school year has already gone by.

According to a press release issued by the District, the earliest they expect to hire a full-time Superintendent seems to be December, but most likely January.
The controversy with the Superintendent position dates back to the days when Antonio Limon was being probed for over 60 different violations, culminating in his resignation after a 10 year run at the helm.
From that point on, San Benito has had three different individuals hold the top position within the district, with yet another expected by the year’s end.

  1. @ insurance,
The board members are enrolling, to Bob Trevino’s payroll. He bank rolled several of their campaigns so it’s payback time and unfortunately our staff and their family suffer financially. The present board president is the worst ever elected on to the school board. And, the sad part is she has majority, what does that say about the rest of her clan.. Good luck Staff…

we really need to consider putting a character limit on here to avoid some of these people venting by posting their boring-make-no-sense term papers.

it is true what concerned parent has written. I have heard that at the high school, they have clerks substitute classes or combine classes together with one teacher or sub. What is done with money that teachers are docked if it is not to pay for substitute teachers?

Good question in reference to the $$$ – especially if teachers/staff are being docked for being absent and that money isn’t going for a sub. They shouldn’t be docked if no sub is put in place. The money isn’t going to the staff/clerks/TAs/etc covering their class either.

My child is an 8th grader. It’s happening this year; and, it happened in 6th & 7th grade. Not just every now and then. It sure seemed like it happened at least once a week. So this isn’t a new problem. It’s been around.

Personally, I’ve been waiting on any Superintendent / School Board Member to move on the Ex Prc Pricipal Rolando Guerra’s removal or investigation on the 2-3 issues he has pending. As a group of concerned parents we understand he was taken out of the PRC campus and had another campus taken away but that does not justify holding him responsible for his actions. You all needed proof well proof you’ll get if you just ask questions and investigate. Franco knows about it, others know and have known about it….why wait, to see if it will go away or cover it up. We are only questioning cause we want something done, because if it was anyone else that had covered up the teacher/student relationship in Gateway like he did along with the school PD they would of had charges on them or gotten fired. No statements, no report but they are all still working, security’s, pd and Guerra. These are not accusations they are facts and my son still says..you see mom they won’t do nothing to them, they always stick together like they did at bout camp…No te digo…

bob trevino making a killing through the sbcisd.
board members should be forced to enroll in this plan.
    they approved it.
    lead by example.
    get it.
    pay for it.

politics – it doesn’t matter which side you are on, the new side, the old side, the old side before that. the board members should have known better than to agree to this. the board members should have known district employees would be agry/upset/troubled/worried/concerned with the new insurance plan.

board members should have to attend insurance presentations and enrollment days at each school.
    but they don’t.
says a lot about who they are and what they do and why they do it.
    actions > words.

During all my days in the classroom, I watched superintendents come and go like the wind. I remember one superintendent who in over twenty years as an instructional leader never stayed more than two years at any district he worked at. If this district is looking for some “magic man” to produce some phenomenal change in the districts academic standing, it’s not going to happen. The only population that can do that are the students. It is all about choices…smart phone and social media or homework; smart phone and social media or read a book…..and on and on. So what is my point? I wouldn’t be in any rush to find a new superintendent. In fact, you might see just how well a school district runs WITHOUT one. I think this is a paradigm shift to consider.

It is unfortunate, but there is absolutely nobody currently in the district who has the experience and know how to lead SBCISD from where it is to where it deserves to be. The district needs some new blood in top leadership roles badly. Things have been status quo for years, and without someone who has had experience (or been closely mentored by someone who has) in leading a district and shown growth and innovation in implementation of program changes, that status quo will only continue. Not to mention that we need leadership who will model professionalism in all aspects of role – verbal and written communication, dealings with staff, students, and parents, setting priorities in goals and resources, etc. Please let’s not forget all that Dr. Pig uncovered about what was lacking in the district for years – current top leadership will only continue to foster this marry go round and keep SBCISD from moving ahead. Here’s hoping the board chooses wisely.

Dear superintendent, former superintendent, interim superintendent, future superintendent, whoever wants to be a superintendent,

What’s up with SBCISD & REGION 1 not being able to get substitutes to cover classes when teachers are absent? Does my child’s education/future not matter when teachers take the day off? The lack of initiative and promptness to resolve this situation is flat out wrong.

Why not hire someone local? What happened to the days of Mr. Barron?
There are plenty of qualified people in the district. You don’t have to look far.
Just make sure this person has the children’s and district’s good in mind and heart.
