His initials might spell out R & R, but I guarantee you there’s no Rest or Relaxation for 25-year old CEO Ruben Rodriguez Jr. of San Benito.
When the 2008 San Benito High School graduate moved back to the Valley in November of last year, he had two things on his mind: Business and Fitness.
“Obesity and being overweight and even poverty is a huge epidemic here and I wanted to come back and do something that would allow me to impact all of those areas for people down here,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez, who played virtually every sport in high school for the Greyhounds, recently started his own business called RGV Nutrition, which has caught on like wildfire locally.
“When I first started, it was just me and my brother, but nobody would show up,” said Rodriguez. “But lately we have been hitting 40-plus people and that’s because we have new people every time, as well as our regulars.”
Back in 2012, while attending the University of Texas at El-Paso, Rodriguez joined a company known as Herballife, and saw much success early, moving up the ranks of the company pretty quickly.
