H-E-B is in search of their next big winner for the second annual “Primo Picks Quest for Texas Best” contest. From cities all over Texas, individuals have submitted their new product to the competition with 25 finalists selected. Bill Crawford of San Benito is one of the three finalists from the Valley and believes his sugar cane juice has the unique taste that H-E-B is looking for. When asked to describe his product, the only word that came to mind was – “Heaven.”

Originally from New York, Crawford says when he first came down to the Valley and saw the abundance of sugar cane, he figured getting a glass of “jugo de cano” would be fairly easy. “I would go ask the farmers for a glass of juice and they would just look at me like I was crazy,” said Crawford. “After that, I got in touch with some farmers and we started growing our own sugar cane.”
