Rio Hondo girl loses long battle to cancer

After more than a five year battle with cancer, 17-year-old Madison Kiley Macias of Rio Hondo passed away Thursday morning. While those close to her say she never let the diagnosis change her outlook on life, keeping the biggest smile on at all times, no matter how bad things got, friends and family members are now grieving the untimely death of the outgoing Rio Hondo cheerleader.
“Madison was a star, she was a great girl who could put a smile on anybody’s face even in the darkest times,” said Josh Ybarra, Macias’ boyfriend of over a year.
