Although it was originally thought that 37 school district employees would not be brought back next year, 28 of those have officially been rehired by the San Benito CISD, leaving only 9 without a job for next year. The new school board directly voted on the rehiring of these employees. And although the overall financials of these new contracts have not been finalized, Superintendent Dr. Marc A. Puig is claiming that over the last 5 months the district has also reduced full-time employees by 153, thus resulting in $6.3 million in savings for the future. When asked if this meant that some full-time employees were now moved to part-time employees, the district had not responded as of press time Tuesday.
