If you drive down Stenger Street this week, you might notice something missing near the Hotel Stonewall Jackson; an entire building! A large structure that was reported to once be a church and furniture store adjacent to the hotel, has now been completely demolished after safety hazards were brought up by nearby tenants. Several stories were published last month regarding a wall that collapsed onto a local muffler shops property, prompting the city to take action. And after fencing off the area and completely excavating the building, now it has been demolished, with no signs yet of future reconstruction from the owner, according to Assistant City Manager Art Rodriguez.
