Rio Hondo and Los Fresnos election votes tallied

NEWS Staff report

The City of Rio Hondo made it clear that no change was needed for them after the reelection of Mayor Gustavo Olivares. The incumbent beat out the challenger, Alonzo Garza Sr., by a count of 232 to 151.
“I thought the vote spoke for itself, the first time I only won by just a couple of votes but this time the citizens saw the work I can do so they supported me at a higher level… I’m really looking forward to getting alot more done in this net two year term,” said Olivares.
In the Rio Hondo ISD elections, Alonzo Garza won in a much closer vote for trustee place 5, picking up 379 votes to 332 for Robert Lopez, while Buck Rhyner brought in a total of 239 votes. Manuel Flores Jr. won the race for trustee place 6, garnering 500 votes to 422 for Carlos Garza Jr. The vote for trustee place 7 was a bit one sided as Rene Alfaro racked up 498 votes to 244 for Elisa Zuniga and 203 for Joseph Lopez.
