It’s Official: Cameron County is a No-Refusal County

According to statistics generated by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), the State of Texas leads the Nation in annual drunk driving deaths, with one alcohol related fatality occurring every five hours and the number of arrests with over 85,000 people taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated last year. Statistics like this, as well as many other concerns, have forced Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz to take drastic action, declaring Cameron County a Non-refusal County. Effective June 1, any individual being arrested for DWI must submit to a blood test if they refuse to blow in the breathalyzer, resulting in a much easier case for prosecutors.
