The bad news is, it’s tax season; but at least one local tax service is giving back to those who serve in the military.

Liberty Tax Service is honoring active U.S. military and veterans by offering free tax preparation during their Military and Veterans Appreciation Week, the first of six in a series. During the week of Feb. 15, Liberty Tax will prepare tax returns, free of charge, to active military, veterans and their immediate family members who are first-time customers.

“We have a bunch of appreciation weeks coming up,” said Liberty Tax franchisee and General Manager David Perez. “In the middle of Tax Season we noticed that there was an opportunity to help people. In the beginning, it’s hard to help people because we are so busy. But things wind down, and that’s why we do these appreciation weeks.”

Every appreciation week is open to all working professionals, individuals otherwise considered part of each respective field and/or their family members. During corresponding timelines, tax preparation and services are complimentary for qualified individuals and/or their immediate family members. Promotions are as follows: Military and Veterans Appreciation Week, Feb. 15 to 21; Teacher Appreciation Week, Feb. 22 to 28; First Responder Appreciation Week, Mar. 1 to 7; Healthcare Professional Appreciation Week, Mar. 8 to 14; Senior Citizens Appreciation Week, Mar. 15 to 21; Volunteer and Nonprofit Appreciation Week, Mar. 22 to 28.

“We want to give something back to honor the men and women who bravely defend our freedom, our family and friends, and the American way of life,” said Perez. “We look forward to helping them prepare their taxes. Tax advice is always free regarding military service tax issues or any tax concern.”

Perez continued, saying, “This is our opportunity to focus on giving people a great experience in our office.” The service is “all inclusive…and includes personal returns. It is not for small businesses but for anything that’s a personal tax return.”

To schedule an appointment or to find the location nearest you, call 956-423-4829 or visit www.libertytax.com. Liberty Tax does take appointments; however, they are not necessary.

Founded in 1997 by CEO John T. Hewitt, Liberty Tax, Inc. is the parent company of Liberty Tax Service.
