On Thursday, trustees held a special meeting of the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District’s Board of Trustees where they accepted former Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón’s resignation as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent (Executive Director) of Human Resources.

Limón officially stepped into the Human Resources position earlier this month, and was working under two-year contract which commenced on July 1, 2014 and would have ended on June 30, 2016.

The salary for said position was slated at $165,303 for the 2014-2015 school year, and would have dropped to $112,534 for the 2015-2016 school year.

The former superintendent said, “So I have a year and a half left on my contract, and instead of (continuing work) to June 2016, I’ll retire at the end of February.” Limón’s resignation will take effect on February 27, 2015.

In a special interview with the News on Friday morning, Limón shared some of his future goals as he moves forward in life and his career. He said, “I’m hoping to get back into broadcast,” a career in which he said he spent five years, prior to his tenure with SBCISD.

Furthermore, he said, “My wife and I plan to do more work in ministry.”

Regarding Limón’s resignation, Board President Arnold Padilla said, “I think Mr. Limón felt he has done what he could for our school district. We are proud of what he has done. We commend him for what he’s given us over the years.”

“The separation was amicable between the trustees and the previous superintendent,” said Padilla. “He worked for the district over 27 years. We are happy to see he has gotten to the position of being able to retire and enjoy that retirement.”

Well, what was the outcome of the special “closed” meeting ? When and will we ever find out,or will it be like the results of the water plants, the China trip/venture,and a host of other screw-ups,perhaps will it take years for the results to be known, then maybe all concerned will be to old to prosecute,or everybody involved will be deceased or moved far away.
