Local authorities with the San Benito Police Department are awaiting further information from Union Pacific Railroad with regards to a railroad-pedestrian fatality that occurred on Dec. 19 when Marco Vasquez, Jr., 22, was struck by a train.

Vasquez was reportedly listening to loud music on his headphones and walking directly on the railroad tracks, while on his way to work at Little Caesar’s Pizza in San Benito.

SBPD Assistant Chief of Operations Michael Galvan said Friday, “At first (Union Pacific) was telling us there was no black box or open videos. Now, they’re saying there is.”

Usually the train roars thru town with so much vibration that it rattles peoples houses miles away, hard to think that this guy wouldn’t feel those vibrations walking right down the tracks,Will be interesting to hear the results of the autopsy findings, especially the toxicology report.
