It has been nearly two months since the resignation of former San Benito Housing Authority Executive Director Arnold Padilla, and the search for his replacement remains ongoing.
After October 31, 2014, the official date of Padilla’s resignation, Janet Velez was appointed to serve as SBPHA’s Interim Director.
During an open call for qualified applicants, Housing Authority Chairman Lauro Leal said, “Eighty-five applications came in.” At this time, no further applications are being accepted.
“We are planning (to hold) a workshop next year to discuss applications,” said Leal. “We want to hold the meeting as early as possible. I believe we are trying to shoot for the second week of January.”
As confirmed by a board member, on January 10, 2015 the SBPHA will hold a workshop to review applications at 10:00 a.m. Regarding the forthcoming meeting to review candidates, Leal said, “From my perspective, I’m hoping we can narrow it down and start doing interviews.”
Leal said every effort is being made to fill the vacant position soon.

Do our leaders advertise for this position,or is it only by word of mouth amongst close friends and relatives that it is known to exist, the latter,I would imagine. And that’s why we have the circus that we have here in San Benny, clown town.
